Dietary Aide - Temporary Part Time

About the role

Join Extendicare’s culinary team to assist with plating, serving, and cleaning of meals in a long‑term care setting. You will support cooks, maintain food temperatures, and ensure a safe dining environment for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Serve meals according to individual diets and preferences, observing time limits.
• Assist cooks with preparing simple foods such as salads, fruits, breakfast items, desserts, and garnishes.
• Clear plates, load and operate the dishwasher, and clean pots, pans, and utensils.
• Maintain proper storage, labeling, and temperature of dietary supplies and leftovers.
• Assemble nourishment carts, stock unit kitchenettes, and participate in facility meetings and in‑service education.

Required profile

• Successful completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long‑Term Care Homes Act requirements.
• Current Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, read and write English, and follow safety practices.
• Availability for workdays, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
