Dietary Aide – Temporary Full‑Time

About the role

Join Extendicare’s culinary team to assist with plating, serving, and cleaning in a long‑term care environment. You will help ensure residents receive meals that meet their individual diets and preferences while maintaining safety and hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, observing time limits and proper temperatures.
• Assist cooks with preparing simple foods such as salads, fruits, breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes.
• Clear plates, load and operate the dishwasher, and clean pots, pans, and utensils.
• Participate in proper storage, labeling, and handling of dietary supplies, including leftovers.
• Assemble nourishment carts, stock unit kitchenettes, and attend facility meetings and in‑service education programs.

Required profile

• Successful completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long‑Term Care Homes Act requirements.
• Current Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, read and write English, and follow safety practices.
• Availability for workdays, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
