Design Engineering Mechanical Systems Engineer / Specialist

About the role

General Dynamics Land Systems is seeking a Design Engineering Mechanical Systems Engineer / Specialist to execute full life‑cycle design activities on assigned subsystems, ensuring fit, form and functionality while meeting customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform component and assembly level design tasks and keep supervisors informed of progress and issues.
• Ensure all designs are peer‑reviewed by a technical lead or assigned mentor.
• Support test planning, execution and reporting under the guidance of a test lead.
• Provide expertise in one or more domains such as hull additions, hull structures, mobility, propulsion or survivability.
• Develop and integrate survivability solutions, including mine blast modeling using LS‑Dyna.

Required profile

• Ability to independently overcome design challenges throughout the product life cycle.
• Accountability for design compliance with requirements across the team.
• Experience working with mechanical systems of military vehicles.

Required skills

• LS‑Dyna for mine blast modeling and simulations.

What we offer

• Base salary range $60,000 – $92,400 per year, with progression based on performance.
