About the role

Critical Care Nursing Officers in the Canadian Armed Forces deliver specialised care to ill and injured CAF members and supported populations in both in‑patient and medical‑evacuation settings. They operate in intensive‑care, emergency‑room and trauma‑resuscitation environments while collaborating with multidisciplinary health teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct critical‑care nursing to patients in civilian hospitals, aeromedical evacuation units and operational CAF sites.
• Lead nursing care delivery within the assigned area of practice.
• Participate in medical‑evacuation flights, exercises, and domestic or international emergency responses.
• Contribute to policy development, program management and clinical leadership initiatives.
• Deliver training and education to military and civilian health personnel.

Profile

• Registered Nurse licence in a Canadian province or territory.
• Civilian critical‑care nursing experience (ICU, ER, trauma).
• Willingness to work shift patterns or a regular 40‑hour week depending on the assignment.
• Ability to deploy domestically and internationally, living and working alongside CAF members.
