Course Lecturer – Second Professional Seminar (EDEC 253 776)

About the role

The Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) at McGill University seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to deliver the second professional seminar (EDEC 253 776) for pre‑service teachers. The three‑day intensive course runs online in October 2026 and prepares participants for field experience in elementary classrooms.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver instructional sessions online on October 20‑22, 2026 (4 h 20 min per day).
• Develop and present lesson plans that align with the Quebec Education Program and the partnering school board curriculum.
• Integrate Indigenous knowledge, equity, diversity and inclusion principles into all course materials.
• Assess student competencies against the 13 professional standards of the Ministère de l’Éducation.
• Participate in pre‑course coordination and planning activities approximately two weeks before the start date.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience in the field).
• Expert knowledge of elementary education content and the Quebec Education Program.
• Demonstrated understanding of the impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities.
• Experience teaching or consulting within a Quebec elementary school system, preferably with Indigenous communities.
• Proven ability to develop curricula grounded in Indigenous pedagogies.
