Course Lecturer – Social Studies Pedagogy (Fall 2026)

About the role

The Office of First Nations and Inuit Education at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer for EDEE 283 710 Social Studies Pedagogy. The instructor will deliver a three‑credit course on elementary social studies pedagogy for pre‑service teachers, running from November 24 to December 17, 2026, with a hybrid schedule (online Tuesdays and Wednesdays, in‑person Thursday).

Key responsibilities

• Adapt course content to reflect the educational, social, and cultural context of the Kanehsatà:ke community.
• Participate in course coordination and planning activities prior to the start date.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) in education or a related field.
• Expert knowledge of elementary social studies curriculum and the Quebec Education Program.
• Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies of the Ministère de l’Éducation.
• Understanding of colonial impacts on Indigenous communities and experience integrating equity‑focused pedagogy.
• Teaching, administration, or consulting experience within the partnering school board.
• Prior experience teaching in Quebec elementary schools and to pre‑service teachers.
• Experience delivering similar courses in Indigenous communities and developing curriculum grounded in Indigenous knowledge.
