Course Lecturer – Kindergarten Classroom Pedagogy (Fall 2026)

About the role

McGill University’s Office of First Nations and Inuit Education seeks two qualified Course Lecturers to deliver the EDEE 253 – Kindergarten Classroom Pedagogy course in the Fall 2026 term. The short‑term contract runs from early October to mid‑November, with classes held in the Indigenous communities of Chisasibi and Mistissini.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a 3‑credit, non‑team‑taught course covering the Kindergarten curriculum and integration of all school subject areas.
• Adapt instructional materials to the developmental level of pre‑school children and to the cultural context of Indigenous communities.
• Collaborate with the partnering school board to ensure alignment with the Quebec Education Program and the 13 professional competencies.
• Modify course content as needed to reflect current advances and evolving program requirements.
• Provide travel, accommodation, and per‑diem support for instructors traveling from Montreal.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience with significant research related to the course content).
• Expert knowledge of Kindergarten curriculum and the Quebec Education Program.
• Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
• Understanding of the impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities and experience integrating equity‑focused pedagogies.
• Experience as a teacher, administrator, or consultant within the partnering school board.
• Proven record teaching in the Quebec elementary school system and to pre‑service teachers.
• Experience delivering similar courses in Indigenous communities and developing curriculum grounded in Indigenous knowledge.
