About the role
The Constituency Advisor provides confidential support to the MLA’s office, assisting constituents and managing daily operations. This full‑time position involves community outreach, communications, and office administration within the Nanaimo‑Lantzville area.
Key responsibilities
- Assist and advocate for constituents in dealings with the provincial government, including referrals.
- Support the MLA through community outreach, liaison, and public engagement.
- Provide information on legislation, policies, and the MLA’s positions.
- Manage social media accounts, create graphics, reels, and monitor online engagement.
- Prepare communications materials such as newsletters, mailings, advertising, and website content.
- Oversee day‑to‑day office operations, including correspondence, bookkeeping, and information management.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and practicum students as needed.
Required profile
- Excellent relationship‑building and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Experience developing communications strategies, including visual content, storytelling, and digital outreach.
- Proficiency in social‑media management, campaign planning, and content creation.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong organizational, scheduling, and time‑management abilities.
- Experience planning community events and coordinating volunteers.
- Administrative expertise with office operations, bookkeeping, and clerical functions.
- Knowledge of the Nanaimo‑Lantzville constituency, its demographics, and key issues.
