Claims Specialist – Personal Lines Auto

About the role

Zurich Canada is seeking a Claims Specialist for Personal Lines Auto to join its Waterloo and Montreal teams. The role is customer‑facing, primarily handling inbound calls, guiding policyholders through the claims process, and managing low to moderate complexity auto claims.

Key responsibilities

• Document and update claim files in compliance with best practices for low to moderate exposure claims.
• Determine liability, coverage, and policy verification by analyzing facts, applicable law, and policy terms.
• Develop case strategies, set timely reserves, and negotiate settlements within authority limits.
• Communicate proactively with customers, respond to inquiries, and ensure a high level of service.
• Manage expenses through approved vendor networks and refer potential subrogation or fraud cases to the appropriate teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of claims or insurance experience, or equivalent education and experience combinations as listed.
• Strong knowledge of insurance regulations, auto insurance policies, and coverage concepts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; French fluency required for Montreal candidates and an asset for Waterloo candidates.

• Analytical ability to assess damages, calculate reserves, and evaluate claim exposure.
