Chief Compliance Officer

About the role

Zurich Canada is seeking a Chief Compliance Officer to lead the Canadian Compliance function, shape strategy, and embed an ethics‑based culture across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction for Compliance in Canada, aligning with business priorities and regulatory changes.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing practical guidance on regulatory developments and emerging risks.
• Lead compliance risk management and oversight, ensuring proactive identification, assessment and mitigation of risks.
• Build strong relationships across the business, Legal and the broader Compliance organization.
• Champion a culture of integrity and embed clear accountability and effective compliance practices.
• Lead and develop the Canadian Compliance team, setting priorities and building capability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of experience in compliance programs and management.
• At least 2 years of people‑management experience.
• Experience working within a local regulatory and governance environment.
• Strong knowledge of compliance principles, regulatory risk and the legal environment.
• Executive presence with ability to communicate complex regulatory matters and influence senior leaders.
• Strategic and commercial judgment with strong analytical capabilities.
• Proven leadership capability to set direction and empower a high‑performing team.
