Compliance & Enforcement Officer – Enforcement Investigations

About the role

The Compliance & Enforcement Officer conducts inspections and investigations of energy industry operations to ensure compliance with the Energy Resources Activities Act and related legislation. The role focuses on enforcement investigations, handling case files, and working closely with other government agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct administrative investigations of permit holders and contractors for non‑compliance with applicable legislation.
• Manage case files including self‑disclosures, unauthorized activities, and incident responses.
• Draft orders, contravention reports, and administrative monetary penalties in collaboration with subject‑matter experts.
• Interpret legislation, analyze permit conditions, and perform field inspections of activities, orders, permits and authorizations.
• Participate in meetings, internal and external training, and coordinate with other ministries and agencies.

Required profile

• Experience conducting regulatory investigations and inspections in the energy sector.
• Strong ability to interpret legislation and analyze permit conditions.
• Effective communication and collaboration with multiple government agencies.
• Willingness to work both office‑based and field assignments as required.
