Business and Entrepreneurship Consultant

About the role

Invest Mississauga is looking for an experienced Business and Entrepreneurship Consultant to join the IDEA Mississauga team. You will provide one‑on‑one and group‑based guidance to entrepreneurs at all stages, from youth founders to growth‑oriented businesses, helping them build sustainable enterprises and create local jobs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver hands‑on business consulting and coaching through in‑person, phone, email and virtual channels.
• Review and assess business plans, financial projections, operations and marketing strategies, offering constructive feedback.
• Support clients throughout the full business lifecycle, from pre‑startup to scaling.
• Lead the planning and delivery of entrepreneurship programs such as Starter Company Plus and Summer Company for youth (15‑29 years).
• Design and facilitate seminars, workshops and training sessions on current business topics, both in‑person and online.
• Identify and develop new services, engage mentors, speakers and subject‑matter experts to expand program offerings.

Required profile

• Seasoned professional with direct experience advising, coaching or operating small and medium‑sized businesses.
• Strong business judgment, practical insight and credibility gained from real‑world client work.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple client engagements and measure economic impact.
• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences, including youth entrepreneurs.
