Building Attendant – On‑site Housing (Part‑time)

About the role

The Municipality of Chatham‑Kent is seeking two permanent part‑time Building Attendants to live on‑site in its public housing properties. As the eyes and ears of the building, you will act as a direct link between tenants and the Housing Services division, helping maintain a safe and well‑functioning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily walk‑throughs of the building and surrounding area to identify and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Log rent payments, assist with lock‑outs, and show vacant units to prospective tenants.
• Report disturbances, tenant complaints, and incidents to the Tenant Relations Manager or police as required.
• Support the Building Maintenance Supervisor by reporting maintenance problems and monitoring fire alarm systems.
• Assist with fire alarm testing, evacuations, and follow municipal fire procedures.
• Change elevator to service mode for scheduled move‑ins and move‑outs.
• Carry out any additional duties authorized by the Tenant Relations Manager or Housing Services leadership.
