Body Repair Technician – Transit Fleet Maintenance

About the role
The City of Hamilton is seeking a skilled Body Repair Technician to maintain and restore its transit fleet. The role involves performing high‑quality body repairs, inspections and diagnostics to ensure vehicle reliability and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Perform body repair, overhaul, inspection and diagnosis of transit fleet vehicles.
- File, grind, sand, fill and finish metal and fiberglass; cut, bend and restore metal components.
- Weld using MIG, TIG, electric and oxy‑acetylene methods, including aluminum, and fabricate parts as required.
- Repair accident/collision vehicles to OEM standards and replace glass windows or windshields.
- Use various fastening methods such as rivets, welding and chemical bonding.
- Record and enter repair data to provide accurate vehicle information.
Required profile
- Valid Ontario Class C driver’s licence with Z endorsement.
- Valid Autobody and Collision Damage Repairer (310B) Ontario trade licence.
- Physical ability to use heavy tools, lift, climb and work in a dynamic industrial environment.
- Familiarity with safe work practices, WHMIS, SDS and occupational health and safety standards.
Required skills
- Metal and fiberglass repair techniques.
- Plasma and oxy‑acetylene cutting.
- MIG, TIG, electric and oxy‑acetylene welding, including aluminum.
- Use of fastening methods: rivets, chemical bonding.
- Data entry and record‑keeping for vehicle repairs.
