About the role
The Department of Sociology at McGill University invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position commencing August 1, 2027. The role focuses on quantitative and computational methods and welcomes scholars specializing in political sociology, medical sociology, economic sociology/stratification, or technology and society.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an independent research program using quantitative/computational methods.
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in quantitative methods.
- Contribute to departmental service, including committee work and student mentorship.
- Publish scholarly work in reputable journals and present at conferences.
- Seek external research funding and collaborate with colleagues.
Required profile
- PhD in sociology or a closely related discipline (or expected by start date).
- Strong emerging record of publications and a clear research agenda.
- Demonstrated expertise in quantitative or computational approaches to sociological questions.
- Specialization in one of the listed sub‑fields is preferred.
- Teaching experience as a lecturer or teaching assistant is beneficial.
