Superintendent or Principal – K‑12 Charter School (Calgary)

About the role

New Generations School (NGS) is launching a public charter school in northeast Calgary and is seeking senior leaders to guide its start‑up and growth. The Superintendent will serve as the chief executive and education officer, while the Principal will lead the K‑12 learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the launch and long‑term development of NGS, translating board vision into operational priorities and measurable results.
• Build leadership capacity, systems, structures and a collaborative culture to support a high‑performing institution.
• Ensure financial sustainability, operational readiness, risk management, regulatory compliance and safeguarding.
• Develop and continuously improve the educational model, curriculum standards and assessment practices.
• Foster strong partnerships with government, regulators, post‑secondary institutions, industry and community organisations.

Required profile

• Progressive senior executive experience in education, with a proven ability to build, transform or scale organisations during periods of rapid growth.
• Demonstrated strategic planning, disciplined execution and effective governance partnership with a board.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with diverse stakeholders, including government, regulators and community partners.
• Eligibility to obtain the Alberta Superintendent certificate (for the Superintendent role) and Alberta Leadership Certification (for the Principal role).
• Experience leading schools or educational initiatives serving multilingual, newcomer and diverse student populations.
