Assistant Professor (Clinical) – Psychiatry, Mood Disorders

About the role

The Department of Psychiatry at McGill University, in partnership with the Jewish General Hospital, seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor (Clinical) in Mood Disorders. This three‑year, renewable appointment is a fixed‑term academic position focused on clinical care, research, and teaching within a leading academic health centre.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality clinical services to patients with mood disorders in an integrated, evidence‑based setting.
• Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows in psychiatry and related health professions.
• Develop and conduct research projects aligned with the department’s strengths in psychotherapy, neuroendocrinology, genetics, brain imaging, and digital psychiatry.
• Contribute to departmental service, including committee work, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Maintain an active scholarly profile through publications, grant applications, and conference presentations.

Required profile

• MD or equivalent with specialization in psychiatry and eligibility for clinical practice in Quebec.
• Demonstrated expertise in mood disorders and a strong record of clinical, teaching, and research activities.
• Commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork and to fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required professional licences and hospital privileges.
