Assistant Corporate Controller

About the role

Ocean Choice, one of Atlantic Canada's most diversified seafood companies, is looking for an Assistant Corporate Controller to join its corporate finance team in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the role prepares monthly consolidated financial statements, financial reporting and analysis across the organization. It suits an organized, analytical and detail-oriented accounting professional who wants exposure to a broad range of corporate accounting and financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and HST.
• Prepare monthly financial analysis for internal freight.
• Perform intercompany account reconciliations in a multi-company environment with Canadian and foreign operations.
• Maintain and update consolidation and business unit files for senior management.
• Assist with monitoring and implementing internal financial controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical and analytical support for Accounts Payable and purchasing.
• Assist the Treasury team with financing activities and the Accounting team with files and documentation for the annual external audit.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual consolidated report and prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Commerce or Business, with a major in Accounting.
• Relevant accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or similarly complex business environment.
• CPA designation considered an asset.
