Accounts Payable Assistant - Summer Student

About the role

Manitoulin Transport, which operates an extensive transportation network across North America, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated summer student to join its Accounts Payable team. The role offers hands-on experience in the accounts payable cycle and suits a high school or post-secondary student wanting to build a resume in accounting or office administration. It is an in-office position at the Gore Bay head office.

Key responsibilities

• Data entry: upload and process invoices into the EPO (Electronic Purchase Order) system
• Invoice profiling: categorize and organize incoming invoices so they are routed and approved correctly
• Reconciliations: perform account statement reconciliations to keep vendor balances accurate
• Special projects: maintain and update fuel invoices in a shared tracking sheet
• Administrative support: manage physical and digital filing systems so financial records are easy to retrieve

Required profile

• High school or post-secondary student
• Strong communication: courteous and effective relationships with team members and vendors
• Precision: exceptional attention to detail with numbers and data entry
• Coachability: follows instructions closely and asks clarifying questions when unsure

Required skills

• Comfortable using Excel and Google Sheets
• Quick learner of new software systems
