About the role
Join MNP’s U.S. Corporate Tax team as an Accountant and help deliver customized tax strategies for a diverse client base. You will work within a complex regulatory environment, providing innovative solutions that address cross‑border needs and minimize tax liability.
Key responsibilities
- Develop technical skills in corporate income tax compliance, tax accounting, research and writing.
- Apply knowledge of GAAP, the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, and bilateral income‑tax treaties.
- Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple engagements, and conduct inventory counts.
- Research tax issues, analyze financial and tax data, and assess potential implications.
- Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies in financial entries, documents and reports.
- Establish charts of accounts, prepare journal entries, compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns for various entity types.
- Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings.
- Collaborate with the client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts.
- Contribute ideas to improve work processes and effectively use MNP internal programs and systems.
Required profile
- Successfully obtained or working towards a Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
- Working towards qualifications to write the U.S. CPA exams or willing to pursue an IRS Enrolled Agent designation.
- Previous tax or accounting office experience is considered an asset.
