This is a newly created, on-site role reporting to the CFO in Garland, Texas, managing the Canadian entity's books, Canadian tax and payroll remittances, and acting as the on-the-ground financial contact for all things Canada.
Key responsibilities
- Own the full cycle of accounting for the Canadian entity: accounts payable and receivable, bank and general-ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and support month-end and year-end close
- Assist with US bookkeeping and accounting with the CFO as time allows
- Prepare and remit Canadian GST/HST and payroll source deductions to the CRA, or coordinate them with head office and external advisors
- Reconcile intercompany activity, handle CAD/USD transactions, and keep US leadership informed on Canadian financial matters
- Track recurring charges, review and code incoming bills, and route them to the right approvers
- Schedule field resources and track their time, attendance and expenses in Zoho tools
- Run the small office: mail, supplies, vendors, filing and records
- Occasionally sign for deliveries, use a manual pallet jack and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg)
Required profile
- CPA designation with strong, hands-on full-cycle accounting experience (AP/AR, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end and year-end close)
- Knowledge of Canadian GST/HST and CRA payroll remittances
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with a head office in another country
- Willingness to handle light office-management duties
- Able to lift 50 lbs and operate a manual pallet jack
- Legally entitled to work in Canada and able to pass a background and reference check
Required skills
- Cloud accounting/ERP system and strong Excel skills; Zoho (Books, People, Projects, Expense) is used, and QuickBooks, Sage or Xero experience is a plus
- Nice to have: construction or project-based accounting, cross-border accounting, multi-currency reconciliations, and experience in a sports or large-project environment
What we offer
- Extended health benefits after a 90-day waiting period
- Contributions to a Canadian savings plan
- Three weeks of paid vacation per year and paid statutory holidays
- Paid volunteer days through the AmpForce program and a company gear program
