Accountant – Assurance & Accounting (Jan 2027 start)

About the role

Join MNP’s Assurance & Accounting team as an Accountant and help clients navigate a rapidly changing financial reporting landscape. You will work on a variety of engagements, from compilations and reviews to audits and tax projects, providing tailored financial information that supports informed decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Develop technical expertise in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Apply IFRS, GAAP and ASPE standards to client engagements.
• Set up new client files, manage multiple engagements simultaneously and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset transactions and payroll walkthroughs.
• Prepare balance sheets, profit & loss statements and other financial reports.
• Assess audit evidence, investigate discrepancies and correct financial entries.
• Establish charts of accounts and post journal entries.
• Draft correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentation materials.
• Collaborate with engagement teams and build strong client relationships.
• Contribute ideas to improve work processes and use MNP internal systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
• Working towards CPA Professional Education Program prerequisites at start of employment.
• Previous accounting office experience is an asset.
• Customer‑service or client‑service experience is an asset.
• Familiarity with accounting and tax software is an asset.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE.
• Experience with compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax tasks.
• Proficiency in accounting software (unspecified).
