Vice President of Research & Development

About the role

This senior executive position leads a large, multidisciplinary R&D organization in Canada, driving product innovation, modernization, and long‑term growth. The role operates in a remote‑first environment and collaborates closely with senior stakeholders to translate business objectives into scalable technology solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee product management, engineering, cloud operations, security & compliance, and AI‑driven initiatives across 60‑70 professionals.
• Translate business goals into actionable development strategies and execution plans.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Provide strategic direction for product roadmaps, technical architecture, and technology investments.
• Guide organizational transformation using emerging technologies and AI.
• Manage financial forecasting, budgeting, and P&L responsibilities for the R&D function.
• Build strong communication channels between technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and external technology partners.
• Monitor industry trends to identify innovation opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in product management, software development, engineering management, or related technology functions.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale, cross‑functional technology organizations.
• Experience delivering complex, high‑impact technology initiatives.
