Solids Control Field Technician (Remote, Canada)

About the role

Stage 3 is seeking a Solids Control Field Technician to support drilling operations across Canada. You will receive on‑the‑job training to operate specialized mud‑system equipment and will work 12‑hour rotational shifts on remote project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Rig up and rig down solids control equipment such as shaker tanks, centrifuges, drying units and pumps.
• Perform fluid analysis including weight, viscosity, and retort testing.
• Execute solids control services like air drilling, barite recovery, de‑watering, fluid transfers and cuttings drying.
• Carry out routine mechanical and basic electrical maintenance on equipment.
• Operate heavy machinery and pressure‑washing tools safely.
• Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to all safety protocols.
• Complete daily PJRA/JSA, inspection reports, observation reports and checklists.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and wear required PPE at all times.

Required profile

• Willingness to work 12‑hour shifts on a 14‑days‑on/7‑days‑off rotational schedule.
• Ability to travel to remote locations across Canada.
• Safety‑sensitive mindset with a commitment to follow procedures.
• Openness to learn drilling fluid properties and basic electrical principles.
• Team player ready to shadow experienced technicians and field leaders.

Required skills

• Operation of shaker tanks, centrifuges, drying equipment and pumps.
• Fluid weight, viscosity and retort analysis.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting.
• Heavy machinery operation.
• Use of pressure‑washing equipment.
