Physiotherapist – Acute Medicine & Emergency

About the role

Join the Acute Medicine – Emergency team at Vancouver General Hospital, part of Vancouver Coastal Health, as a registered Physiotherapist. You will deliver patient‑centred physiotherapy services in a fast‑paced emergency setting, helping clients achieve optimal functional outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical status, functional abilities and goals.
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualized intervention plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
• Document assessments, treatments and outcomes in the electronic client‑care information system.
• Provide education and empowerment to patients and families regarding self‑management.
• Participate in quality‑assurance initiatives, research projects and departmental meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy or Rehabilitation Sciences from a recognized program.
• Current full registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC and eligibility for membership in the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia.
• Strong knowledge of physiotherapy theory, evidence‑based practice and the standards of the CHCPBC.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a complex clinical environment.

Required skills

• Physiotherapy techniques and use of related equipment.
• Proficiency with electronic health record or client‑care information systems.
