Assistant Director of Care – Full-time

About the role

The Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) will support the Director of Care in delivering high‑quality resident care at Extendicare Maple View, a long‑term care home in Sault Ste. Marie. This full‑time position provides leadership to personal care staff, oversees quality improvement initiatives, and ensures compliance with provincial legislation and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Care with quality improvement projects, risk management, data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Lead implementation of best‑practice initiatives such as fall prevention, restraint reduction, wound management and infection control.
• Manage nursing supplies, the High Intensity Needs program and the RAI‑MDS reporting process.
• Mentor staff on the resident units, oversee resident‑centered care and conduct investigations related to occupational health and safety.
• Collaborate on special projects, staff development plans and performance appraisals.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (BScN preferred).
• Minimum three years of experience in long‑term care, with management experience considered an asset.
• Current knowledge of geriatric clinical issues, infection control, adult education principles and quality improvement.
• Familiarity with provincial LTC home legislation and Extendicare policies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the RAI‑MDS assessment system.
