Hospital Porter – Patient Transport

About the role

Join the Patient Transport Porter team at Vancouver General Hospital, part of Vancouver Coastal Health. You will move patients, families and equipment safely throughout the facility, supporting a client‑ and family‑centered care model.

Key responsibilities

• Transport and escort clients of all ages, including deceased, using stretchers, wheelchairs and beds.
• Assist nursing and technical staff with lifting and transferring clients as needed.
• Maintain supplies for designated areas, clean equipment and storage spaces.
• Pick up and deliver equipment, supplies, specimens, blood products and other items.
• Operate fax machines, photocopiers and other related equipment.

Required profile

• Grade 12 plus at least one year recent experience in an acute‑care environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to perform lifting, moving and transporting duties.
• Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
