Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

Thiess is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a dedicated maintenance team in delivering safe, efficient, and reliable upkeep of mobile plant and equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will coordinate both planned and unplanned maintenance activities across shifts, ensuring optimal equipment availability while adhering to safety and cost targets.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and direct maintenance crews and subcontractors to manage all mobile plant and equipment on site during each shift.
• Allocate labor, tooling, and equipment resources to meet both scheduled and emergency maintenance demands.
• Ensure all work follows the Maintenance Superintendent’s direction, project SMP/EMP, OEM guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain maximum equipment fleet availability at minimal cost.
• Identify hazards and risks through regular inspections, audits, and behavioral observations, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Lead, coach, and develop team members, setting clear performance expectations and applying recognition or disciplinary measures.
• Monitor down‑day activities for quality, effectiveness, and compliance with Thiess standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading maintenance teams in an industrial or mining environment.
• Strong understanding of safety standards, risk identification, and corrective action processes.
• Ability to allocate resources efficiently and prioritize work under shifting demands.
• Excellent communication skills for directing personnel and subcontractors.
