Foreman - Mechanical Survey & Layout

About the role

Hall Mechanical is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Survey & Layout Foreman to join its field team on a permanent, full‑time basis. You will be responsible for accurate below‑grade and above‑grade mechanical layout, ensuring that mechanical systems are installed correctly the first time across a variety of projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform below‑grade layout for drainage, sumps, manholes, elevator pits, sleeves, and mechanical penetrations.
• Execute deck canning layout and provide onsite pour watch to protect penetrations during concrete placement.
• Conduct spot checks to verify layout accuracy, quality, and compliance with project specifications.
• Provide layout for equipment pads, risers, hangers, and mechanical rooms, aligning with design intent.
• Collaborate with the Field Operations Manager and site supervisors to sync layout activities with construction schedules.
• Operate and maintain Topcon GNSS, Total Station, and builders’ level equipment for precise elevations and slopes.
• Use AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and PlanGrid to prepare, update, and verify layout drawings and field documentation.
• Mentor and train crew members on layout techniques and maintain accurate as‑built records.
• Identify potential layout conflicts early and propose solutions while supporting site safety standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical layout, survey, or foreman‑level field coordination.
• Journeyperson status in plumbing, pipefitting, or sheet metal, or a technical diploma in surveying, civil, or mechanical technology (preferred).
• Hydronic experience in heating, cooling, and mechanical rooms, including familiarity with grooved, Victaulic, and cast‑iron systems (preferred).
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between project sites.
