Course Lecturer – Finite Element Methods in Solid Mechanics (Winter 2027)

About the role

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Course Lecturer for MECH 546 – Finite Element Methods in Solid Mechanics during the Winter 2027 term.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver all course material in accordance with the official Course Outline published on the McGill Course Catalogue.
• Teach core topics including discrete systems, variational formulation, element formulation in 1‑3 dimensions, isoparametric elements, plate and shell elements, static and vibration analysis, structural dynamics, and an introduction to nonlinear problems.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum three years of teaching experience or relevant industry experience.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Understanding of cross‑cultural practices.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a flexible approach to teaching.

What we offer

• Course compensation of $11,824 per course.
• Teaching schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:35 pm – 3:55 pm.
