Construction Superintendent – Saskatchewan

About the role

Bird Construction is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations for upcoming commercial and institutional projects in Saskatchewan. The role focuses on safety, people leadership, and the efficient delivery of projects on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safety leadership by implementing the Bird Safety Program and monitoring field staff and subcontractor performance.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with field staff and subcontractors to promote morale.
• Supervise and develop site team members through feedback, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Assist in developing and refining project schedules.
• Administer contracts, sub‑contracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices.
• Identify design deficiencies, schedule interruptions, and other project issues; collaborate with the Project Manager to resolve them.
• Monitor subcontractor performance for safety, scope, quality, and workmanship.
• Ensure sufficient manpower to meet safety, schedule, and quality objectives.
• Maintain daily paperwork, including field reports, safety inspections, and schedule updates.

Required profile

• Progressive experience as a Superintendent in commercial or institutional construction, preferably with P3 or Design‑Build projects.
• Trade background in carpentry or Gold Seal certification is an asset.
• Proven leadership, field management, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong competence in safety, workforce management, cost control, quality, and administration.
• Ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using Microsoft Project.
