Field Installation / Modernization Mechanic

About the role

Join KONE Canada as a Field Installation / Modernization Mechanic, working on elevator and escalator projects across the Vancouver territory. You will apply your construction background to ensure safe, on‑time installations and modernizations while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Manually assemble and install major elevator components such as rails, pits, hoist‑way equipment, car and counterweight assemblies, and machine‑room gear.
• Wire and install smaller components, including roller guides, door tracks, linkages, hall buttons and lanterns, using color‑coded wiring identification.
• Collaborate with subcontractors, general contractors and consultants to meet project timelines and report progress to supervisors.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety standards and site‑specific policies to protect yourself and others.
• Interpret technical documents and drawings while working in a fast‑paced field environment.

Required profile

• Hold or be able to obtain a TSBC Class A License.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for internal and external interactions.
• High concentration and attention to detail for intermittent wiring, installation and maintenance tasks.
• Physical ability to walk/stand (≈80 % of the time), lift up to 100 lb, and perform repetitive stooping, bending and crouching.
• Capability to operate an automobile and work in non‑controlled climate conditions.

Required skills

• Manual assembly of elevator and escalator components.
• Electrical wiring of elevator systems, including color‑coded wire identification.
• Interpretation of technical drawings and installation documents.
• Use of hand and power tools for installation and maintenance tasks.
