Accountant – Finance & Payroll (Hybrid, Coquitlam)

About the role

Our client, a well‑established not‑for‑profit organization in Greater Vancouver, is looking for a hands‑on Accountant to manage accounting, payroll, benefits and financial reporting. You will work closely with senior leadership and act as the primary liaison for external auditors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare month‑end and year‑end financial reports, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Maintain the General Ledger and oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial reporting for external stakeholders.
• Process full‑cycle payroll, T4s, ROEs, benefits administration and pension reconciliations.
• Handle government remittances, including GST filings and related reporting.
• Coordinate the annual audit and act as the main contact for external auditors.
• Monitor aging receivables/payables, investigate discrepancies and support process improvements.

Required profile

• Diploma, certificate or degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll or finance administration.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to meet competing deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in a not‑for‑profit or unionized environment is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

What we offer

• Salary range $60,000‑$75,000 CAD, based on experience.
• Hybrid work schedule (4 days onsite, 1 day remote) with flexible hours (ideally 7:30 am‑3 pm).
