Research Associate – Integrated Mental Health Services

About the role

The University of British Columbia’s Connections Lab, led by Dr. Skye Barbic, is seeking a full‑time Research Associate to advance research on integrated health and social services for youth and adults with mental health and substance‑use needs.

Key responsibilities

• Identify funding opportunities and lead or co‑lead grant proposals and collaborative research agreements.
• Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research staff on methodologies and best practices.
• Conduct literature and systematic reviews, design data analysis plans, and perform analyses on primary and secondary data sources.
• Develop knowledge‑mobilisation products such as reports, research briefs, and manuscripts for publication.
• Prepare and deliver presentations at research meetings and conferences.
• Collaborate with community partners including Foundry and the Canadian Mental Health Association BC.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a discipline related to population health, public health, or a comparable field.
• Strong research background with experience in grant writing and familiarity with CIHR, MSFHR, or similar funding agencies.
• Excellent academic writing and communication skills.
