Casual Appointments Clerk – Medical Imaging

About the role

This position provides essential front‑line support for a medical imaging department, handling patient scheduling and reception duties on a casual basis. The clerk ensures smooth patient flow and accurate information capture for imaging procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule patients for a variety of medical imaging procedures and exams.
• Perform telephone and reception duties at primary public and workroom locations.
• Greet, receive, instruct and direct patients, relatives, visitors and hospital staff.
• Obtain primary patient demographics and billing information (OHN or third‑party) as required.
• Follow up with scheduling contacts, nursing personnel, physicians and others to obtain missing information and correct scheduling errors.
• Assist designated personnel with verbal or STAT result requests.
• File, sort and fax reports as needed.
• Enter data into relevant information systems and perform other clerical duties.

Required profile

• OSSGD or equivalent certification recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
• Post‑secondary job‑related coursework and recent related experience preferred.
• Medical imaging experience is an asset.
• Understanding of medical implications related to scheduling of procedures and exams.
• Typing speed of 40 net words per minute with a maximum 5% error rate (or 106 net keystrokes per minute).
• Familiarity with medical and radiology terminology is an asset.
