Casual Appointments Clerk – Medical Imaging

About the role
This position provides essential front‑line support for a medical imaging department, handling patient scheduling and reception duties on a casual basis. The clerk ensures smooth patient flow and accurate information capture for imaging procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Schedule patients for a variety of medical imaging procedures and exams.
- Perform telephone and reception duties at primary public and workroom locations.
- Greet, receive, instruct and direct patients, relatives, visitors and hospital staff.
- Obtain primary patient demographics and billing information (OHN or third‑party) as required.
- Follow up with scheduling contacts, nursing personnel, physicians and others to obtain missing information and correct scheduling errors.
- Assist designated personnel with verbal or STAT result requests.
- File, sort and fax reports as needed.
- Enter data into relevant information systems and perform other clerical duties.
Required profile
- OSSGD or equivalent certification recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
- Post‑secondary job‑related coursework and recent related experience preferred.
- Medical imaging experience is an asset.
- Understanding of medical implications related to scheduling of procedures and exams.
- Typing speed of 40 net words per minute with a maximum 5% error rate (or 106 net keystrokes per minute).
- Familiarity with medical and radiology terminology is an asset.
