Project Trainer – Mining Expansion & Block Caving

About the role

The Project Trainer will support workforce readiness for Newmont’s Mill Expansion, Block Caving Project and auxiliary equipment programmes at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. Reporting to the Training and Development Lead, the role designs, delivers and evaluates competency‑based training that ensures operational safety, efficiency and integration of new technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Embed Newmont’s safety standards and regulatory requirements into all training activities.
• Conduct training needs analyses and gap assessments for mill, pit, underground and auxiliary equipment operations.
• Develop and deliver hands‑on and theoretical training for generators, compressors, pumps, lighting plants and support vehicles.
• Design curriculum, instructional materials and assessment tools for operational readiness.
• Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness, providing feedback for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering training in a mining or heavy‑industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and site‑specific safety protocols.
• Ability to work onsite in a remote fly‑in/fly‑out setting.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
