About the role

The Department of Geology and Geological Engineering at Université Laval seeks a tenure‑track faculty member specializing in Structural Geology. The successful candidate will join a vibrant community of researchers and educators, contributing to undergraduate and graduate programs while establishing an independent, funded research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate courses in geology and related fields.
• Develop and lead a research program focused on structural geology, preferably with applications to mineral resources.
• Publish research findings in reputable scientific journals.
• Participate in departmental, faculty, and university service activities.
• Engage in external academic collaborations to raise the visibility of the department.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in geology, geological engineering, or a closely related discipline (or near‑completion with thesis submitted).
• Demonstrated ability to conduct university‑level research and secure funding.
• Potential to develop an autonomous and innovative research program in structural geology.
• Capability to teach at all university levels and supervise graduate students.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in science and engineering.
• Fluency in French for instruction within three years of appointment.
• Eligibility to become a member of a Canadian professional geological or engineering association within three years.
