Grade 7 Homeroom Teacher – Long Term Occasional

About the role

The York Region District School Board is seeking a dedicated Grade 7 Homeroom Teacher for a Long‑Term Occasional (LT O) position. This full‑time role involves delivering the elementary curriculum, fostering a supportive learning environment, and contributing to student success.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess Grade 7 instructional programs in accordance with the Ontario curriculum.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to support student learning.
• Participate in school events, parent‑teacher conferences, and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or in the process of becoming qualified before the start date.
• Three professional teaching references for external candidates; internal candidates must provide two references, one of which must be a YRDSB administrator.
• Successful completion of a satisfactory police record check.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Ontario elementary education standards and practices.
• Ability to manage a Grade 7 homeroom and differentiate instruction.
