Academic Geriatrician & Division Director (Associate/Full Professor)

About the role

The Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, in partnership with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, seeks an Academic Geriatrician to lead the Division of Geriatric Medicine. This senior faculty position combines clinical practice, research, education, and strategic leadership to advance geriatric care across the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 60‑70% clinical care in inpatient and outpatient geriatric medicine settings.
• Lead the division’s strategic planning, operational management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Oversee educational programs, mentor faculty, and support trainee development.
• Drive quality‑improvement initiatives and knowledge‑translation activities.
• Promote and secure research funding, supervise investigators, and disseminate findings.
• Represent the division within the university, hospital, and external partners.

Required profile

• MD degree with eligibility for Royal College certification in Geriatric Medicine.
• Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical geriatric practice.
• Strong scholarly record in clinical research, education, or knowledge translation.
• Experience in academic leadership, faculty mentorship, and program development.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration.
