Workplace Mediator (Conflict Resolution)

About the role
UBC is seeking a Workplace Mediator to support a respectful and inclusive environment across the university. The role focuses on early‑stage conflict intervention, mediation and facilitation for faculty, staff and student employees.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with campus partners to implement UBC’s Respectful Environment Statement.
- Act as a neutral mediator and facilitator to resolve workplace conflicts through early intervention.
- Apply trauma‑informed and inclusive approaches when working with individuals and teams.
- Identify structural barriers to conflict resolution and escalate issues as needed.
- Provide advice and guidance to senior HR, Employee Relations and Faculty Relations practitioners.
- Maintain reporting lines to the Associate Vice‑President, Human Resources and the Executive Director, Advisory Services and Professional Standards.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in workplace mediation, conflict resolution or related fields.
- Strong understanding of respectful‑environment policies and equity principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse university stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
Required skills
- Mediation and facilitation techniques.
- Trauma‑informed and inclusive practice.
- Knowledge of HR policies and employee relations processes.
What we offer
- Competitive salary range of $7,851.50 – $12,243.25 CAD per month.
