About the role
McGill University is seeking its first Vice-President, People & Culture to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive people strategy. This senior executive will shape the university’s workplace culture, align talent initiatives with the President’s priorities, and support the institution’s global mission.
Key responsibilities
- Define and implement a university‑wide people strategy that enhances employee well‑being, engagement, and performance.
- Lead organizational culture initiatives to foster collaboration, inclusion, and shared purpose across all campuses.
- Partner with senior leadership to align HR policies with strategic goals and external partnerships.
- Oversee talent acquisition, development, and retention programs for a workforce of over 12,000 employees.
- Drive change management efforts to transform how the university works locally and globally.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in people strategy, organizational culture, or human resources within a complex, research‑intensive environment.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and build collaborative relationships.
- Strong understanding of higher‑education contexts and the ability to navigate diverse community needs.
