About the role
The Trimmer Operator works on‑site at a sawmill, converting raw logs and rough lumber into finished, dressed timber. The role requires careful handling of equipment and strict adherence to cutting specifications to ensure high‑quality output.
Key responsibilities
- Examine logs and rough lumber to determine optimal cuts.
- Saw, trim, and plane rough lumber into dressed pieces of various sizes.
- Monitor log and lumber movement to guarantee cuts meet specifications.
- Clean and lubricate sawmill machinery regularly.
- Report any delays, mechanical issues, or accidents promptly.
- Observe machine operation continuously and prepare operational reports.
Required profile
- Manual dexterity and strong hand‑eye coordination.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Organised with good time‑management skills.
