Trimmer Operator – Sawmill

About the role

The Trimmer Operator works on‑site at a sawmill, converting raw logs and rough lumber into finished, dressed timber. The role requires careful handling of equipment and strict adherence to cutting specifications to ensure high‑quality output.

Key responsibilities

• Examine logs and rough lumber to determine optimal cuts.
• Saw, trim, and plane rough lumber into dressed pieces of various sizes.
• Monitor log and lumber movement to guarantee cuts meet specifications.
• Clean and lubricate sawmill machinery regularly.
• Report any delays, mechanical issues, or accidents promptly.
• Observe machine operation continuously and prepare operational reports.

Required profile

• Manual dexterity and strong hand‑eye coordination.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Organised with good time‑management skills.
