Team Lead, AV Infrastructure & Design

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking a Team Lead to drive the design, engineering, and support of audiovisual (AV) infrastructure across the Faculty of Medicine’s distributed education environment. This senior position guides a dedicated team, ensures scalable AV solutions, and serves as the escalation point for complex technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the AV Infrastructure & Design team, providing direction and mentorship.
• Develop and maintain AV design standards, engineering frameworks, system architectures, and technical specifications.
• Oversee Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, delivering advanced troubleshooting and break/fix resolution.
• Collaborate with internal IT, health authority partners, and vendors to integrate AV designs with existing infrastructure, security, and enterprise technologies.
• Ensure AV solutions are supportable, sustainable, and aligned with institutional standards and program requirements.
• Contribute to strategic planning, resource development, and continuous improvement of AV services.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in AV infrastructure design and support.
• Strong understanding of distributed learning environments, including campus and clinical sites.
• Ability to manage and mentor technical staff.
• Experience working with institutional standards, security requirements, and enterprise technology integration.
