Surface Manager

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Surface Manager leads the mining services and ore transportation groups, including Energy & Infrastructure, Process Plant, Mobile Maintenance, and Planning & Reliability. The role ensures that operational goals are met while upholding Agnico Eagle’s values, health and safety standards, and environmental commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee mining services and ore transportation departments to execute activities in line with the Mine Plan and budget.
• Establish regular communication routines with department Superintendents and the General Manager.
• Maintain relationships with corporate technical advisors and directors.
• Participate in Collaboration Committee meetings and support initiatives across steering committees.
• Assist the General Manager in preparing and presenting division reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
• Contribute to the development and execution of the division’s yearly objectives and strategic plans.
• Lead strategic projects such as maintenance strategies, site services planning, capital expenditure planning, construction project support, SOX compliance, and business improvement initiatives.
• Manage contractor relationships, procurement support, closure studies, and progressive reclamation efforts.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in mining services or surface operations.
• Strong ability to manage multiple functional departments and cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills with senior management and external stakeholders.
• Strategic thinking with experience in budgeting, safety, and compliance.
• Knowledge of mining industry best practices and environmental stewardship.
