Summer Law Student – Aboriginal Law (2027) – Vancouver

About the role

We are seeking a motivated law student to join our Vancouver office for the summer of 2027. The position supports our Aboriginal law practice, assisting Associates with litigation, regulatory matters and day‑to‑day file management for First Nations clients. The role offers mentorship from experienced lawyers and the possibility of an articling position after graduation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Associates in representing First Nations clients in litigation, regulatory and constitutional matters.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, affidavits, correspondence and other legal documents.
• Participate in client meetings, motions, trials and administrative proceedings.
• Manage case files, track deadlines and support trial preparation.
• Prepare and file applications for consultations and accommodations.
• Support the preparation of reports on reserve lands and band administration issues.

Required profile

• Completion of the second year of law school before the start date.
• Strong analytical, interpretive, research and drafting abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment.
• Commitment to Indigenous cultural competency and interest in Aboriginal law.
