About the role

Manulife John Hancock is hiring a Summer Intern 2027 for its Canadian Real Estate Finance Group in Toronto. The internship sits within the company's co-op program, which offers a supportive community, mentorship, exam study support and access to an early talent program for graduating students. The position is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct financial analysis, including discounted cash flow and real estate valuation.
• Learn and take part in the fixed income investment underwriting process and risk assessment.
• Support research analysts and portfolio managers with issuer and market analysis.
• Help provide administration and client services support to high net-worth clients.
• Operate internal systems for risk reporting and hedging, keeping them accurate and timely.
• Take part in the investment process, including writing research reports and building financial models.
• Carry out credit analysis and borrower screening to support lending officers.
• Help with special projects such as industry trend analysis and ESG assessments.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field; CFA candidates are preferred.
• Solid understanding of business and economic principles and well-developed quantitative analysis skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organization and time management, and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.

What we offer

• Expected salary range of $40,950 to $60,450 CAD, pro-rated by the length of the work term.
