Accounting Lead

About the role

Bree is a consumer finance platform serving Canadians who live paycheck to paycheck. Its finance and accounting team is currently small and supported by an external bookkeeper, and it is moving off QuickBooks onto a new ERP. The Accounting Lead will own the month-end close end to end, bring journal entries in-house and lead the ERP implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Own accounts payable and accounts receivable end to end, keeping aging current on both sides
• Bring journal entries in-house, recurring and one-off, at a level comfortable handing to an auditor
• Run the month-end and year-end close: accruals, account analysis, reconciliations, working papers under ASPE
• Build the financials, intercompany and schedules behind the management reporting package
• Lead the ERP implementation: configuration, data validation, testing, documentation and workflow design
• Automate manual workflows using LLMs and support audits by preparing schedules and closing the loop on auditor queries

Required profile

• 4+ years of full-cycle accounting, including owning a month-end close
• Strong ASPE knowledge and multi-entity experience with consolidations and intercompany work
• Attention to detail, high agency and concise communication
• CPA is a plus, not required

Required skills

• Excel and Google Sheets at scale
• SQL or willingness to learn it quickly; data lives in Snowflake and is queried through Metabase
