Senior Financial Analyst, Fund Expenses and Reporting

About the role

Manulife's Global Wealth & Asset Management (GWAM) Operations is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to support the fund expenses and reporting practices of the Global Fund Services team. Reporting to the Manager of Fund Expenses and Reporting, the analyst ensures accurate and complete fund expense management for Manulife Canadian mutual funds, ETFs and pooled funds, and produces internal and external reports. The role is hybrid and based in Montreal, Quebec.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and manage fund expense budgets with comprehensive accruals, and send expense-related accounting entries to NAV agents for posting.
• Review and validate fund expenses, monitor expense variances, and process fund invoice payments according to GWAM guidelines.
• Supervise the allocation of expenses charged to funds and the Fund Expense Ratio calculation for Total Cost Reporting.
• Calculate and monitor the Management Expense Ratio (MER) monthly and reconcile HST blended rates.
• Prepare, validate and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual reports such as Sales and AUM reports.
• Support fund launches, mergers and closures, and work with accounting, operations and compliance teams.
• Update internal procedures, identify process improvements and stay current on regulatory changes.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of fund accounting, fund expense management and/or fund reporting.
• Preferred: professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA) with investment fund experience, IFRS and NI 81-106 knowledge, bilingualism (required in Quebec), and fund accounting software and Power BI/Power Apps experience.
