Substations Superintendent

About the role

The Substations Superintendent leads planning, management and execution of all substation construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and budget compliance while acting as the primary onsite representative.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to grow Barton Malow’s substation capabilities.
• Lead daily construction execution, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and budget targets are met.
• Coordinate subcontractor scope, sequencing, installation and logistics.
• Monitor performance of self‑performed crews and subcontractors, tracking productivity and earned value.
• Provide technical guidance to electrical forepersons, journeypersons and subcontractors.
• Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of MV/HV equipment, switchgear, inverters and related infrastructure.
• Manage day‑to‑day onsite operations from notice to proceed through commissioning and turnover.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years electrical construction experience, including 5 years in high‑voltage/substation work.
• At least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
• Experience in energy, renewables, industrial or utility electrical projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, drawings, standards and EPC contract requirements.
• Willingness to work on remote sites and relocate for future projects.
