Journeyperson and Apprentice Carpenter Positions

About the role

Sideworx Connect is seeking skilled journeyperson and apprentice carpenters for short‑term and seasonal projects across Western Canada. Positions are available for employees and independent contractors, offering flexibility and the chance to work on modular camp structures.

Key responsibilities

• Apply carpentry techniques and installation methods on various projects.
• Operate powered saws, hammers, rulers, tape measures and other manual equipment.
• Safely lift, carry and move construction materials, tools and equipment.
• Read and interpret technical documents, drawings and specifications.
• Follow directions to maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform basic math calculations for material needs, costs and measurements.
• Work meticulously with attention to detail to ensure high‑quality results.
• Maintain physical stamina for demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and standing for long periods.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s licence with reliable transportation (asset).

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with carpentry materials.
• Preferably experienced in installing and dismantling modular camp/structures.
• Available for remote project work lasting multiple weeks.
• Willingness to travel and work across Western Canada.
• Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in any weather.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (asset).

Required skills

• Use of powered saws, hammers, chisels and other hand tools.
• Proficiency with measurement tools such as tape measures, rulers, chalk lines and squares.
• Operation of cordless drills or impact drivers.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Basic math for calculating material quantities and costs.
• Safe handling and movement of construction materials.
